The Leyden Fire District will have 2 items to be voted on at the March 17, 2026 Election. We are seeking a tax increase. We need your help! LFPD has not raised taxes in 51 years. Please attend one of our informational Open House meetings, Thursday February 17 @ 7pm or Saturday February 21, @ 10am. We explain the referendum and our plan for the future.
District’s low tax rate - coupled with population growth and aging equipment - has left it in need of additional revenue to ensure the future needs of the community are met.
In order to enhance and modernize the services provided to the citizens of the district, the district needs fleet modernization and fire station repairs.
Calls for service have increased by 51% over the last decade, and funding has not kept up with the demand for service.
The District is primarily funded through property taxes and does not receive funding through county, village or township budgets.
